Spanish Web Intensive

Tuesdays from 7:40 – 9:40, taught by PJ in the Cathedral – July only.

Get spinning on Spanish Web
A Spanish web is an aerial rope with a hand or foot loop attached near the top; Spanish web is a two-person discipline. One person, the flyer, climbs up and secures his or her hand, foot, or knee in the loop, and executes poses and movements on the rope. The second person, the setter spins the flyer on the rope. The result is exciting and incredibly addictive!

In this intro workshop, students will learn how to climb the rope with the help of a setter, perform a basic hand spin, and will try several tricks with a hand in the loop. Each student will also have the opportunity to try setting the rope and building a spin.

Cost: $90
Prerequisites:

  • Students must have strong, stable shoulders!
  • Straight-leg Straddle up
  • One, perfect pull up
  • scissor hip lock in the air

Vertical Conditioning Drop-In

Tuesdays from 2:30 – 4:00 PM, taught by PJ in the Cathedral.

This drop-in ONLY conditioning class will help you acheive and maintain the strength you need for working on vertical apparatuses.

This class will break down individual pieces of more physically difficult movements and condition them to become efficient. Attention is paid to isolated movements as well as longer more complicated sequences designed to maximize endurance. Balance and symmetry are emphasized through training on BOTH sides. Join this class to learn creative conditioning solutions to common problems that anyone can execute.

Rope vs Tissu

This class is not being offered this session.

In this class, students will have the opportunity to alternate between learning rope sequences and tissu sequences. Each week, Alex will teach a rope sequence and Jenn will teach a tissu sequence. The sequences will, each week, be based on the same movement themes. It’s up to you to decide which sequence wins…

Prerequisite: This class is an Experienced Intermediate class. You must meet the Intermediate Development, vertical graduation requirements or have instructor approval.

Vertical Technique: Ascending Without Climbing

This class is not being offered this session.

Want to go up in your routine but can’t think of an interesting climb? Use momentum and c-shaping for ascension. This is a technique class, not a choreographic class; I will help you gain the strength to ascend using beats into backsteps, hip key roll-ups, beat climbs, catcher’s rollups, and a few more! Expect to get some c-shaping muscles.

The emphasis will be on repetition for skill building versus a multitude of tricks.

Prerequisite: This class is an Experienced Intermediate class. You must meet the Intermediate Development, vertical graduation requirements.

Rope and Tissu Choreography

This class is not being offered this session.

This class would be perfect for anyone wishing to create an act on Rope or Fabric. Every 2 weeks a new piece of choreography will be introduced. Students will learn a variety of new climbs, skills, drops and transitions while increasing their understanding of how to create seamless sequences.
