Level Descriptions
Level 1: Focus on basic aerial skills, static moves, and balance while building strength and flexibility. Appropriate for students who have taken the Intro Series or the equivalent.
Examples of level 1 skills:
Rope/Tissu: Wrap and Russian climbs, Catcher’s, Fake Flag, Single and double foot lock, Flying Dutchman, Arabesque, Basic hip lock, Jay, Salto.
Trapeze: Beats, Basic mount, Bird’s Nest, Mermaid, ½ Angel, Candlestick, Gazelle, Standing balance, Straddle Back, Coffin, Crucifix, Hip hang, Front Balance.
Level 2: At this intermediate level we will focus on improving form, building sequences, and introducing work in the ropes on the trapeze and dynamic skills on all apparatus. Students at this level must be able to do unassisted straddle-ups off the ground and pullovers onto the trapeze bar.
Examples of level 2 skills:
Rope/Tissu: Bicycle Climb, Straddle Climb, Fancy catcher’s, Simple Planche, Flag, Scissor hip lock, Windmill, Double star, Cartwheel.
Trapeze: Pullovers, Rock & Roll, Montreal, Single Knee Hang, Hip circles, Gazelle roll-up, Work in the ropes (egg, splits, bird’s nest, etc), Forward Roll, Ooze to ankles.
Level 3: Skills at this level include planches, open drops, triples, and other advanced dynamic and strength moves. Focus is more on endurance, choreography, improvisation, and artistic expression. Assumes proficiency with all level 2 skills.
Examples of level 3 skills:
Rope/Tissu: Hail Mary, Hari Kari, Helicopter, Planche/Ball drop, Triple star
Trapeze: Heel hang, Single toe hang, back/front/side planche, back hip circles
