In Versatile Arts’ youth circus camp week, students will experience a variety of physical circus disciplines. In addition to a daily dose of aerial, students will learn the basics of hula-hooping, acro, and flexibility training. A variety of aerial apparatuses will be offered, and students will be organized into small groups based on aerial experience. Camp is open to all levels of students, including intro-level students and those new to circus. Each day will be divided into three 50-minute classes with short breaks in between providing opportunities for snacks and socializing.

The curriculum includes lectures on functional anatomy, injury prevention, and rigging basics as well as active practice in demoing, spotting, and assessing students. Practice classes with real beginner students are included in the schedule.
Our teacher training intensive is based on our established curriculum progressions and spotting protocols, and adds practical anatomy education and teacher assessment tools in order to better prepare instructors to work with the recreational adult population. This workshop involves roughly 20 hours of classroom time over 4 days.

After completing the course, participants will be ready to return to existing teaching with a more thorough understanding of the principles of aerial instruction, or to begin assisting or apprenticing under a more experienced instructor.
Prerequisites: at least 1 year of aerial experience including rope/tissu, and trapeze.
