Overview

We recognize that the persistent inequities pervasive in American society have made access to circus training inherently difficult for members of historically marginalized groups, particularly Black, Indigenous, People of Color.

We believe wholeheartedly in the transformative benefits of circus as an art form, physical practice, and community. This scholarship aims to make circus training available to those who have been historically excluded, and to benefit the circus community as a whole by addressing a lack of diverse engagement.

2025 Update

Starting in 2025, the Versatile Arts BIPOC Scholarship Fund will no longer be taking its own applications but instead will be underwriting the two BIPOC scholarship positions offered by New Moon Movement Arts. The VA fund will also provide financial aid for teacher training applicants from all local circus organizations, to further our goal of increasing representation among circus coaches.
